About the event
Join us for a fall BioBlitz event at Shady Oaks - we will document biodiversity in this section of Coyote Creek: by the creek, the old walnut orchard, the native plant garden, and the creek riparian corridor. A fall BioBlitz is the perfect opportunity to get to know some of our less known local insects - the insects that induce oak galls! Shade Oaks Park has wonderful oak trees, with plenty of galls. You can learn more about galls on our webinar. You can join our iNaturalist project for this event here.
This BioBlitz is part of the California Biodiversity Day state-wide event week. Biodiversity is the diversity of life on earth, and a BioBlitz event is the perfect event to learn first-hand about our local biodiversity. As part of this event, we invite you to take a challenge - "Find 30 species for CA 30x30". This event will continue throughout the entire week - 9/7-9/15, and you will have to join the project in order to participate. From the project description:
"These activities contribute directly to California's 30x30 initiative to conserve 30% of California lands and coastal waters by 2030 through collaborative action. Have fun learning how to identify the biodiversity around you while helping to steward and protect California biodiversity!". You can learn more about this state-wide event here.
