About the event

Join BioBlitz Club and Bay Area Older Adults for an online presentation about Pacific Newt (Taricha sp.) conservation in the South Bay.  Since 2017, a group of community scientists have been documenting the decimation of 2 native newt species populations. Along a 4.2 mile section of Alma Bridge Rd, near Lexington Reservoir in Los Gatos, we have been documenting about 5,000 dead newts every year. The newts are trying to cross the road in order to reach their breeding habitat. How long will the population be able to sustain the high roadkill numbers?

Join our presentation to learn more about newts, about the roadkill problem, and about possible solutions. RSVP here
