Help us document the Argentine ant invasion into Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve! In the first part, we will teach you how to ID local ants, and in the second part (9/18) we will survey the preserve in small groups
Since 1993, twice a year we survey 250 points across Jasper Ridge, documenting the Argentine ant invation into the preserve. This year we have decided to split the training into two meetings - an online presentation and an in-person walk.
This is the 2nd meeting, where we will go for a 2 hour ant walk in Jasper Ridge and improve our ant identification abilities. We've got two dates to choose from for the walk - on Sunday 9/12 and Wednesday 9/15 from 5:30.
On 9/18 from 8:00-12:30 we will conduct the actual ant survey.
Please only sign up if you can watch the presentation (either live or a recording), one of the walks (9/12 or 9/15), and the actual survey.
Stanford University policy requires all volunteers to either be fully vaccinated or show a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of coming on-site.
